Blog Format

The last few months have been an experiment in blogging. I posted nearly every day. The primary reason was to put myself on a deadline and to push things out that were good enough. I have a lot of anxiety about my writing. Creating an artificial nudge to get me to develop the habit of writing on a daily basis and to get the unconscious part of my brain to generate ideas when I’m doing other things was my intention. Being willing to hit “publish” even when I feel like it could be better has been helpful. Eventually, you have to put it out. You can’t hang on to the material forever. I’m feeling good about my ability to write and to keep writing, even if I don’t feel like it.

My intention for the rest of April is to put out one longer blog post per week and if anything occurs to me during the week that I want to get down and out of my head, I’ll do that too. If my writing habit starts to falter, I’ll go back to the once a day posting thing.
