You were an obedient son and diligent apprentice earning esteem and an important assignment to a key border defense posting. Your parents were very proud and you were very bored. The problem with being a battle wizard in an impregnable fortress is that no one is stupid enough to attack it. To pass the time you gambled. You drank. You gambled and drank. Soon you were kicked out of his majesty’s army and have amused yourself for years with more gambling and drinking. Occasionally you take on interesting assignments that earn enough money to return to the gambling and drinking. Your best friend (your only friend) has been asked to murder the crown prince. Ha!
