Grumpy Wizard on Social Media

Social media is something I want to limit as much as possible. The aggravation to reward ratio is unfavorable.

I’ve removed the links for Grumpy Wizard social media accounts except YouTube from the sidebar and contact page. You can still find me on X, Linked In, Facebook, and Instagram but you’ll have to go to those sites and search or notice me on the rare occasion I engage with other users.

I’ve closed my direct messaging on X. I haven’t found out how to completely close direct messaging on FB or Instagram. I have limited as much as possible and if you contact me there, I may not respond.

The best way to get a hold of me is the contact page.

YouTube

I haven’t posted a video in several months on my YouTube. I have a list of ideas. I’ve even shot one but didn’t like it when I started editing. The script I wrote for it became the Connection post from a few weeks ago.

I intend to make more videos. I am considering live streams. Probably not going to have anything ready until the later in October.

I kept the link to my YouTube channel in the sidebar. Is that social media? I don’t know maybe it qualifies.

Comments Section

I closed comments months ago but did not mentioned it.

I get ping backs from other blogs linking to a post from time to time. I always approve those. They appear at the bottom of the post as a list of links.

There were several drive by commenters who were negative, clearly didn’t read the post before commenting, were commenting because they like drama, looking to vent their splean, or drive traffic to their own sites.

There were many legitimately useful and thoughtful comments. However, managing the comment section requires attention and emotional energy. I want to use both of those as effectively and efficiently as I am able. Comment moderation does not seem to be either at this time. I may change my mind at some future date.

Gamehole Con

Newsletter readers are already aware that I will be running four Swords & Wizardry sessions at Gamehole Con in Madison in a few weeks. Three of those sessions are sold out. The one with seats available is my Thursday afternoon at 1 PM game entitled Herder’s Plea.

You can put a game into your “wishlist” on the GHC site and get notified if a seat opens up at the last moment. It has been known to happen.

Monthly Email Newsletter Reminder

I send out a monthly email newsletter where I talk about what music I’m listening to, places I’ve been, books I’m reading and other news. Some of what I write there makes it’s way to my blog or YouTube channel but much of it only ever sees distribution in the newsletter.
